Getting Recognized
By Barbara Brown, Ph.D.
For
speedy recognition and advancement, you must link contributions
to bottom-line results. Look at your organization's strategic
goals and assess the relevant strengths, weaknesses, opportunities,
and threats. This information should dictate your performance
and development.
Use
these strategies as a guide:
- Learn
your organization's mission, vision, and values statements.
- Determine
how services and products relate to the mission, vision, and
values.
- Assess
how your tasks facilitate achievement of the mission, vision,
and values.
- Identify
how your performance contributes to delivery of products and
services.
- List
skills that allow outstanding performance in relevant areas.
- Develop
additional skills needed to maintain high levels of performance.
- Tie
all your activities to organizational achievements.
