While alignment provides the overarching framework for linking practices, the high-performance leadership strategies of linking people, goals & performance goes deeper and are more varied. Linking requires alignment of typical organizational factors, but also creates connections among individuals and processes at all levels of the organization.

Linking people, goals & performance

The linking approach inspires individuals to see the value of embracing a common purpose or we perspective. This happens when individuals see that their goals can be achieved if “others” goals are achieved. And “others” goals might include those of a team member, workgroup, department, division, or organization.

Effective alignment involves interconnections among many critical factors.

Vision:
Individual vision is linked to one or more of the following: team vision, workgroup vision, office vision, department vision, division vision, organization vision.

Mission:
Individual mission is linked to one or more of the following: team mission, workgroup mission, office mission, department mission, division mission, organization mission.

Values:
Individual values are linked to one or more of the following: team values, workgroup values, office values, department values, division values, organization values.

Practices:
Individual activities are linked to one or more of the following: team activities, workgroup activities, office activities, department activities, division activities, organization activities.

Roles:
Individual roles are linked to one or more of the following: team priorities, workgroup priorities, office priorities, department priorities, division priorities, organization priorities.

Strategy:

Culture:
