20 Reward-Actions That Inspire Outstanding Performance

If you want employees to continuously deliver outstanding performance, then you must continuously reinforce behaviors that result in outstanding performance. When you do this, you create an environment where employees know what gets appreciated and that they are appreciated for doing those things.

Below are 20 reward-actions that will help you maintain a positive-focused environment.

Let's Do Lunch Or Dinner

1. Bring the person a preferred treat for a week; such as package of Oreo cookies
2. Buy some special candy that has a positive name: For example Hershey’s Kisses or Good and Plenty

Put It In Writing

1. Write five or more Post-it Notes thanking the person for a job well done and hide them among the work on his or her desk
2. Place person's picture in company newsletter
3. Write and publish a personal ad about a group or a person in your local newspaper
4. Write a “thank you” letter to the person’s supervisor highlight that person’s contributions
5. Put a smiley face on a personal note
6. Buy a pack of sticky pads that have positive sayings and write your “thank you’s” on those
7. Buy a pack of sticky pads that have positive sayings and use them to just write general notes
8. Create some half-page certificates that have positive sayings like: “You did a great job!” Or, “We couldn’t have done it without you”
9. Buy some large dollar bills from a Dollar Store and write witty sayings like, “you are worth a million bucks but I only had a dollar”

Just Say Thank You

1. Just say “Thank You”
2. Put some “thank you” sticky pads in strategic places on their paper work
3. Visit a “Dollar Store” and buy all kinds of fun giveaways to say “thank you”

Capture The Moment

1. Make a photo collage about your successful project that shows the people who worked on it, its stages of development, and its completion and presentation

Food For Thought

1. Bake a batch of cookies for the person or group
2. Make and deliver a fruit basket to the person or group
3. Tape a candy bar to someone’s desk who is working on a project with a note that says “half way there”

Special Awards

1. Create an ABCD Award (above and beyond the call of duty) Award
2. Create awards that reinforce important practices or behaviors. For instance: A You Did It Right! Award or a Service With A Smile! Award.
